![]() ![]() Reports are that it does add some latency but that should be extremely minimal. You could get a Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit adapter for a second network connection. I'm really not a fan of one-post-per-multiple issues because it does a serious disservice to anyone later on searching for what could be a great fix for their one issue, lost amidst a discussion of 5+ issues :-) I think your post is a bit of a grab-bag and too much to address in a best/proper fashion. So the main question, what would you do? Budget of about $6000. Netatalk ports firewall software#Seams like Mac software is forgetting the enterprise deployments. I am unaware of a centrally managed backup solution for Mac's, open to idea's. Plus then we don't have to touch every single one.įor our laptops/pc's we use Acronis Backup and Snap Deploy, for servers and DR site replication we use Untrends. Would prefer the ease of Time Machine, mainly because this is what the users are familiar with. Using an smb share with Time Machine proved to not be something we wanted to do. I am wondering if it is on its death bed? We have a test system in place and it is handling the 2 test systems really well. I was excited when I found Netatalk, to only have my hopes dashed when I learned there has been no activity in over a year now. Mac files are currently stored on Win 2012r2 servers and we have worked through any latency issues. But with our pc environment using Equalogic's and 10 gig, it seams like the Mac's need a more modern solution. I am not able to confirm if a 10gig nic to thunderbolt2 will give me the throughput that is advertised? Then there is the question if a Mac mini will survive for long doing it? Currently our Mac's are using TimeMachine with direct connected usb drives. But I do not believe a single 1 gig port and attached drives will keep up with what we want it to do. Originally I was going to use 2 thunderbolt2 Raid enclosures to a pair of Mac Mini's. I'm new to mac's so please forgive the stupid questions. ![]() ![]() I am designing a large (to me) mac backup project 30-40 Mac's. ![]()
